The operational principle of a DTH diamond bit water well Drilling Rig combines the characteristics of DTH drilling and diamond drill bits to efficiently bore water wells in hard rock formations. Its primary working principles are as follows:
1. Supply and Circulation of Compressed Air:
Air Compressor: The drilling rig is equipped with a high-pressure air compressor, which is used to generate high-pressure compressed air.
Air Lines: The compressed air is conveyed through high-pressure pipelines to the drill pipe and the DTH hammer.
DTH Hammer: The compressed air enters the impact mechanism inside the DTH hammer.
2. Impact Action of the DTH Hammer:
Piston Movement: Driven by the compressed air, the piston inside the DTH hammer reciprocates at a high frequency, generating a powerful impact force.
Impact Transmission: The impact force of the piston is directly transmitted to the diamond drill bit connected to the DTH hammer.
3. Cutting Action of the Diamond Drill Bit:
Diamond Grit: The surface of the diamond drill bit is embedded with very hard diamond particles.
Rotation and Impact: The drilling rig drives the drill pipe to rotate slowly, while the DTH hammer provides high-frequency impacts. Under the combined action of rotation and impact, the diamond particles cut the rock through grinding and fracturing.
4. Removal of Rock Cuttings:
Air Reverse Circulation: High-pressure air passes through the internal channels of the drill pipe and the DTH hammer to reach the bottom of the drill bit. Then, it carries the rock cuttings upwards through the annular space between the drill pipe and the borehole wall. This method has good cuttings removal efficiency and is often used for core drilling.
Air Direct Circulation: High-pressure air passes downwards through the annular space between the drill pipe and the borehole wall to reach the bottom of the drill bit. Then, it carries the rock cuttings upwards through the internal channels of the drill pipe. This method is more common in water well drilling due to its large cuttings removal capacity.
Mud Circulation: In some cases, to better cool the drill bit, stabilize the borehole wall, and carry away rock cuttings, a Mud Pump is also used to inject drilling mud into the borehole for circulation and cuttings removal. However, this is less common in pure DTH air drilling.
