What is a tricone bit
Toothed wheel bit is an important tool for rotary drilling, especially widely used in oil and gas exploration and development, mining and hydrogeological survey. It breaks the rock by rotating, impacting and shearing to realize the drilling purpose.
The basic structure of the tooth wheel drill bit:
The tooth wheel drill bit is mainly composed of the following parts:
Bit body (or bit body): It is the main structure of the drill bit, connects with the drill pipe, and bears the drilling pressure and torque.
Toothed wheel (or roller): It is the rotating cutting part on the drill bit, usually there are three, so it is also often called three-toothed wheel drill bit. The tines are equipped with cutting teeth, which are used to break rock.
Bearings: support the rotation of the tines and bear the load generated by the tines in the drilling process. The main types of bearings are rolling bearings and plain bearings. Sliding bearings are more widely used in tooth wheel drills because of their larger contact area and higher load carrying capacity.
Cutting teeth: Installed on the surface of the tooth wheel, they are in direct contact with the rock and break it. The types of cutting teeth differ according to the hardness of the formation, and are mainly categorized into milled teeth (steel teeth) and set teeth (tungsten carbide teeth).
Nozzle: It is used to inject drilling fluid to cool the drill bit, flush the rock chips, and lubricate the drill bit and the bottom of the well.
